Utility and Tax Incentives
State and local programs in California continue to encourage cleaner, more reliable energy—especially as utility infrastructure ages and extreme weather events become more common. Utilities are facing higher demand and rising maintenance costs, which is why many regions offer rebates, bill-credit programs, and resilience-focused incentives to support homeowners who choose solar and battery backup.
While these programs vary by utility and location, they’re designed to help homeowners gain greater energy independence, improved reliability during outages, and long-term peace of mind without relying solely on the grid.
Energy Plus Solar helps you understand which local incentives you may qualify for and how to build a system that strengthens your home’s resilience, stability, and comfort year-round.

Power Your Home, Protect Your Future
There are many advantages for homeowners who choose to go solar. Across the country, states and utilities offer programs that make solar energy more rewarding than ever.
In many areas, homeowners can receive credits or compensation for excess energy their solar system produces and sends back to the grid—similar to net metering, though the exact structure varies by state and utility. Some regions also offer sales and property tax exemptions, helping you save even more without increasing your tax burden.
Going solar means becoming your own power company. You can reduce dependence on the grid, protect yourself from unpredictable rate hikes, and lock in lower energy costs for decades to come.
Investing in solar isn’t just about saving money—it’s about gaining control, energy independence, and a cleaner future for your home.

California Incentives
California offers many state and local incentives for going solar. The utilities offer incentives such as energy audits and battery rebates. They vary by utility company and location. We will help you to attain all of the incentives your project qualifies for.
Property Tax Exemption – 100% through 2027
Installing solar panels on your home increases its value by up to 20 times your annual energy bill savings. We don’t think you should be penalized for your sustainable decision, and many state legislators agree! Now extended until 2027, new solar installations will be subject to no additional property taxes based on their assessed value.

Increase Home Value
Having a residential solar energy system on your property is known as a capital improvement, which adds to your property’s value. This means that you can potentially sell your home faster and for more than homes without solar. Your investment in efficient, clean solar power also adds to the tax basis of your home. If you sell the home, this tax-based investment can be deducted from the sale’s price, reducing the portion of the price that is counted as profit. This reduces the taxes owed from the sale and may be able to help you avoid capital gains taxes on appreciation.
